Your git panel, in the macOS menu bar

gitmenu

gitmenu is a git panel that lives in your macOS menu bar. One click, and the parts of VS Code you use every day — Source Control, the commit graph, file history — are right above your work. Keep your editor for code; gitmenu handles the git panel, diffs, and history.

gitmenu panel

Source Control, without opening VS Code

Stage, commit, sync, stash, and resolve conflicts from a lightweight panel. Groups, commit message box, and safety behavior follow VS Code's git extension, so everything is where you expect it.

gitmenu commit graph

Commit Graph

A full commit graph with lanes, branches, remotes, tags, and stashes. Filter, search, and open any commit to see its changed files and diffs.

Diffs and blame that read well

Side-by-side or inline diffs with syntax highlighting and per-line blame a toggle away, rendered in a Web Worker so large files stay responsive. Review image and text changes from the same place.

gitmenu diff

History when you need it

File History follows renames, Line History tracks the lines you select, and blame is a toggle in the file view instead of a plugin you have to manage.

  • Views for Branches, Remotes, Tags, Stashes, Worktrees, and Contributors
  • Works with GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps, including self-hosted
  • Terminal tabs, command palette, and VS Code-style keyboard shortcuts
  • 10 languages, light and dark themes
  • Fast by design: reads go through gix, writes through your system git; 0% CPU when idle
